Another Chinese meal/field trip

On this field trip we drove 2 and ahalf hours south of Tianjin to tag trees.  What they are along the side of the road?  As i understand it, the Government here pays the locals to plant trees along the side of a road to beautify and after they grow someone can purchase for relocation the larger tree at a price set by the government.  Not a bad deal for the Government.
We looked at a number of trees in about a 3 mile stretch and tagged 6 for the course.  This variety of tree is hard to find in a nursery because the growers want money and they get paid faster to plant smaller trees along the road.
So their we were looking at trees and watching traffic.  A first for me!

Todays lunch experience.
This restaurant was next to a river so the guys in the picture are catching our carp fish for lunch.

There he goes to the kitchen with our carp.

They were also big on eggs here.

Yap, turtle is also on the menu.

This meal was a little on the wild side for me.  I tried the carp, i've had that before and i was actually looking forward to trying the turtle, but their presentation of it was disappointing.  The WHOLE turtle was steam cooked and thrown in a bowl with other things, i mean shell and all........Pass
Pork, chicken, rice, green tea, hard boiled eggs, oh ya white wine again and this time they were really pushy about having a Chinese cigarette with them, always something different.

Just a quick note on the XMas Dinner Buffet.
It was GREAT
All kinds of appetizers, caviar, different sliced meats, cheese and rolls.  They don't do crackers.
Main course was pork, beef, chicken, barbiequed goose feet,,,,,,WHAT goose feet,,,,,they always have to through something in there to look out for....PASS
Deserts all looked like they came out of a magazine.  I had a full size plate of them!
And of course a nice bottle of red French wine.
It was a very nice Dinner away from home.
