First day out and about

Oh boy,
Sorry about this post being so late, i didn't do so good with adjusting my sleep when i got here.  I landed on a Saturday late and at 8:00 am Sunday morning i got a call from the Company i will be advising on tree moving that a driver would be at the hotel at 9:00 am to take me to the job site.  WHAT, on Sunday already!!!
Well i found out fast that they work Saturday through Thursday and take Friday's off.  I still need to find out how that works with their religion.
Any way i was waking up at 2:30 and 3:00am for the next 4 days and i just started sleeping till 5:30am when the outside loud speakers start the morning prayer service.  It's is a singing prayer in Arabic of course.
SO, on my Friday off i went to Dubai Creek or "Khor Dubai" in Arabic.  This is a salt water creek and the old part of Dubai that has traded for hundreds of years.  Ancient Greeks called it River Zara.  And with a town on each bank Deira and Bur Dubai.  This area was first settled in the 19th century.  It was and still is a minor trading port for India and East Africa.  Surprisingly, years ago pearls were the main city's economy, now it is oil.
The area was so interesting, i spent the hole day there.

Below numerous water taxi's

There were a lot of these old boats, and still used.

 Water Taxi

Guys wait their turn to taxi people.

An area where you could pay to take a taxi.
I didn't get a taxi ride yet, but i will go back to the area and do that.
I am about 12 miles from this area.

The Market area right next to the water.  This is ware the trading took place and goods were delivered.

While i was there shops started closing and tarps put up.  I thought it was closing time.  NO,  just prayer time, the guy starts singing over the loud speakers again and in about 15 min the shops all open up again.

I took over 400 pictures that day, i have night pictures for later.

Yes, you are looking at a real live little girl.  Notice her ear ring and 2 bracelets.  When i walk away and past her, it sure looked like real GOLD.  They are all about the gold here.
This little girl probably had around $1,500 to $2,000 on her at todays market price!!!

Where i had lunch by the water.

 To start with,

and sea bass sounded good today.

This was the refreshment guy.  He brought out the water and drinks.

More trading

This guy showed up when i was eating and was looking right at me 2 tables away to my right.  I wanted to take a picture soooooo bad.  I tried not to stare but he was so interesting to watch as he had his coffee or tea and start puffin on that thing.
Those big smokin machines were popular in Cape Town in bars also.

I got my picture when i left, had the camera ready at my waste and fired 3 quick shots walkin by.
I love it!    Is this Dubai or what.
He looks best in Black&White

Who the heck is this dude!
